Engineering Plastics

Engineering Plastics are materials which have been established as an alternative to metal in applications involving a significant design content and requiring quantifiable property and performance data. Often these materials show advantages in performance and cost effectiveness compared with metals.

The current range of engineering plastics includes plastic products capable of meeting very severe conditions and demands. Materials are available, for example, with an operating temperature range of up to 500 degrees centigrade and the ability to withstand virtually all corrosive media, whilst maintaining reliable and consistent mechanical properties.

Plastic Machining

A complete plastic machining service is available at Pacific West Corporation. Our services include turning, milling, grinding, waterjet cutting, laser cutting and stamping, as well as plastic machining of high performance plastic products.

Plastic machining offers an alternative to traditional steel and aluminium parts. With plastic products, machining critical tolerances can be obtained in a replacement part. We can stock finished parts for clients who require ongoing supply and quick turn around. Machined parts can be quickly produced to customer’s requirements in the following plastic products: nylon, acetal, pvc, polypropylene and polyethylene. Custom extruded plastic rod is available in most prime colours with short production runs.

Plastic machined parts, machined by Pacific West, are used as replacements for OEM parts or as a newly developed part to improve machine performance. Plastic machined parts are lightweight and used where chemical resistance, electrical resistance, quietness, or extreme wear resistance is required. Our plastic machining service is used in the mining, timber, food processing and manufacturing industries for bearings, wear plates, covers, sight glasses and custom plastic machining.
